AI Champions Corner
Grace Beam
AI Champion of the Month: Grace Beam
Director of Online Learning and Development | Georgia Northwestern Technical College
When it comes to building AI literacy across the Technical College System of Georgia, Grace Beam doesn't wait for a roadmap — she builds one in real time. As Director of Online Learning and Development at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Grace has spent the past three years doing the kind of steady, generous, institution-spanning work that quietly raises the floor for everyone. Over 70 sessions delivered. More than 1,200 attendees reached. All 22 TCSG colleges represented. And she's just getting started.
Her GNTC AI Webinar Series — free, monthly, and open to faculty and staff across the entire system — has become a staple of professional development for TCSG educators at every experience level. Topics are chosen close to delivery, so they stay current with a fast-moving field, and every session is built to be immediately actionable. Whether the topic is prompt engineering, AI-resistant assignment design, Microsoft Copilot, or responsible use policy, Grace meets faculty and staff exactly where they are. In a single year, 128 individuals attended three or more sessions — a sign that people keep coming back.
Grace also serves as moderator of the Academic Integrity & Responsible Use space in the TCSG AI Community of Practice, and she brought GNTC's work to a national stage at the NAAIC 2026 National Summit on Artificial Intelligence, where she presented two sessions: From a Few Faculty to 22 Colleges: What Happens When You Stop Planning Ahead and Cheat Resistant by Design. Her background spans IT leadership, corporate training and consulting, and 14 years as a full-time faculty member teaching Business Management and Supply Chain Management — a combination that gives her a rare ability to translate emerging technology into practice that actually sticks.
We are grateful to have Grace as a leader, a collaborator, and a champion for AI literacy across our system.
Please check out Grace’s Webinar Series this month:
The GNTC AI Webinar Series is an ongoing conversation about using AI in teaching, planning, and everyday work, open to all faculty and staff across TCSG.

Tuesday Feels Like Friday: AI, Cognitive Time Compression, and the New Workday
Tuesday, October 20, 2:00 PM (Please note new date)
AI can turn a project that used to take a couple of weeks into something you can tackle in an afternoon. That sounds like excellent news until it is Tuesday after noon and your brain is acting like it has already made it through Thursday.
This session looks at what happens when AI speeds up the work but leaves you making all the decisions: what to keep, what to question, what to verify, what to revise, and what to do next. We’ll explore the real productivity gains, the strange new version of flow, and the possibility that AI is not reducing the thinking so much as packing more of it into the same workday.
Then we’ll talk about ways to keep the benefits without turning every saved hour into another hour of decisions. Because apparently, AI can give us back time and still leave us wondering where the day went.
AI Coffee Chat
Thursday October 22, 10:00 AM
Grab your favorite morning beverage and drop by our AI Coffee Chat. This is a relaxed, welcoming space to talk about generative AI without slides, demos, or an agenda.
Bring questions, share something you’ve done, or just listen in. Conversations may wander, ideas may spark, and you don’t need to prepare anything to participate. (Coffee chats are not recorded.)
Curious, Concerned, or Completely Over AI? Let's Talk
Thursday, October 22, 2:00 PM
Does AI have you feeling overwhelmed, or have you embraced this new wave of technology? Regardless of your stance, educators have suddenly taken on the responsibility of guiding students through this shift. Together, we'll unpack the "When, How, What, and Which" framework for ethical AI use, discover how to dodge the dreaded "downskilling" trap, and share practical, stress-free ways to redesign your assessments, so that critical thinking stays front and center. Bring your questions, your favorite teaching war stories, and your curiosity!
Our guest speaker, Lynnette Allen, is a Customer Success Manager at Turnitin LLC. After nearly a decade of teaching rhetoric, speech, language composition, and English literature, Lynnette pivoted into tech, joining Turnitin in 2021. She specializes in faculty development, higher education pedagogy, and helping educators seamlessly navigate the evolving EdTech landscape.
